Hello, I’m Yulia, but people also call me Yulken or Julia.
Creating something new was always a passion of mine – drawing, sewing, crochet, knitting!
At school I always read all books from our summer reading list. And some more.
One day a friend of mine said that she was too old to go to art school and may be I’d like to do it? I’m so glad that I said “yes”!
But my university education was still not artistic in it’s traditional meaning – I went in IT-direction.
After moving to Belgium I’ve started to draw again.
Now I work part-time in library where I find a lot of inspiration! And books.
Which I like to read to my two little boys.
About my work
I work at home in my teeny tiny studio in the corner of our living room.
My works are mostly hand-drawn but I’d love to explore drawing on tablets more to have freedom to work from outside of my studio.
You’ll see little characters almost in all my works and they all probably will be smiling.
I belive in little steps (this is the period in my life when it’s the only manner I can make any progress) and in making things happen together with other people.
I like to get emails, especially from real nice people. So if you have any questions, interesting projects or you just want to say “hello” – please send me a message! I’d be delighted to hear from you and will answer as soon as possible!
